WEAR IT BLUE FORUM : Together we stand against Colorectal cancer.

This Forum was held at Nexus Connexion, Bangsar South on the 16th July 2017. It was jointly organized by Pantai Hospital,KL and CORUM, endorsed by MSCRS.

Program began with 2 parallel symposiums, one for the General practitioneers and the other for the public /cancer survivors. There were talks, presentations by surgeons, oncologists, dietician and sharing session by cancer survivors.

This was followed by a forum involving various policy makers discussing various avenues in advocating the importance of screening for CRC. The panelists who participated in the forum were Dato Shamsuddin Bardan (CEO, Malaysian Employers Federation), Dr. Azlan Darus (Head, Prevention and Health Promotion Unit, SOCSO), Dr. Nor Saleha Bt Ibrahim Tamin, Senior Assistant Director, Cancer Unit, MOH), Dr. Ravindran Naidu (President , MMA), Dr. Akhtar Qureshi (President, MSGH), Dr. Maryati (EXCO, MPCAM). Absent with apologies was Mr.Toi (President LIAM). Forum was moderated by Dato Dr Mehehesinder Singh.

Amongst the concluding pointers were:

• Empowering the general practitioneers in colorectal cancer screening
• SOCSO to include FIT into their Health screening prog along with current available screening tests for breast and cervical cancer
• Employers to encourage employees above 45 towards screening
• Endoscopists to focus more on screening rather than surveillance.

The meeting closed with a word of thanks by the organizing chairperson.
