BEST ORAL FREE PAPER & BEST POSTER AWARDS

Deadline for Submission of Abstract: 22nd February 2026.

The Best Oral Free Paper & Best Poster Awards are for the best original scientific or clinical papers submitted by young surgeons for presentation at the Coloproctology 2026. These awards will hopefully encourage a high standard of research and scientific presentations among young surgeons.

BEST VIDEO AWARD

The Best Video Award is awarded to the best colorectal operative video submitted by young surgeons for presentation at the Coloproctology 2026. This competition aims to encourage young surgeons and trainees to showcase skills and talents including innovative and creative techniques in operative colorectal surgery.

REGULATIONS
  1. The competition is open to all young surgeons and surgical trainees who are below 45 years old as of 1st January 2026.
  2. The work submitted must be related to coloproctology, and it may take the form of clinical trials, surveys, clinical studies, laboratory-based work, surgical procedures or any other form of unpublished original work.
  3. The bulk of the work submitted must be performed by the author himself/herself even though he/she may have done the work in collaboration with other doctors or agencies either locally or overseas.
  4. The author must submit a signed declaration of his/her age, that his/her paper has not been published or presented elsewhere and the presenter has done most of the work.
  5. The abstracts for all three competitions are to be submitted online according to categories on this website

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
GENERAL GUIDELINES
  • No limit is imposed on the number of abstracts submitted by individuals.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted in English only.
  • Abstracts must be accompanied by payment of registration fees. If the abstract is subsequently not accepted for presentation, and the author wishes to withdraw his participation, the registration fee will be refunded to the author.
  • Only original studies/materials relevant to the field of coloproctology surgery will be accepted. Those already published or presented prior to the ASCS-Coloproctology 2026 will not be considered for presentation.
  • The final selection will be the responsibility of the Scientific Committee
  • Once the abstract selection process has been completed, authors whose abstracts have been accepted for Oral, Poster or Video Presentation will be notified by mid-March 2026.

WHERE APPROPRIATE, THE ABSTRACTS SHOULD CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING
  • A statement of the objectives of the study.

  • A description of the methods used.

  • A summary of the results obtained.

  • A statement of the conclusions reached.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARATION OF ABSTRACTS
  • The abstract should not exceed 300 words.

  • Title must be in CAPITAL letters on the first line. Do not indent.

  • Author(s) name(s) and institution(s). Do not include degrees or professional titles. A maximum of five (5) authors can be listed.

  • Underline the name of the presenting author.

  • Leave one line between the title / author / institution and the body of the abstract.

  • Texts must be typed single-spaced, with only the left margin justified. Graphs, tables and illustrations cannot be included in the abstract.

  • Abstracts should be submitted using the template provided. The link to the template file to download is in the final section of this page.

  • Abstracts should be saved in Word document format (*.doc) and not exceed 1MB in file size. We will be unable to accept the docx format.

  • Video files should be accompanied with the above formatted abstracts as well.
    • Video files should be no longer than 8 mins in its entirety with a maximum file size of 300MB, including description slides if necessary.
    • Video files must be accompanied by narration in English. If it is not possible, a typed transcript of the video must be supplied with the submission. All videos should also be in the highest resolution possible.
    • Please upload your video on your Google Drive (or equivalent), make it shareable and submit the link to the video in the abstract submission form.

  • Upon successful submission, you will be assigned an Abstract Number.
    You should save this number for reference and communication purposes.
